A very interesting essay that posits that the Vulcans turned to logic (which, it notes, does not have the usual English meaning) because they once suffered under a regime similar to that depicted in 1984, so Vulcan "logic" is an antidote to Orwell's crimestop, blackwhite, and doublethink.
